Just wanted to start a thread for the students applying to this time frame! Deadline's around the corner. ?
Just now, Lwright said:Hi! When you say that you found out a week before the start date of the program after asking many times, who eventually gave you your answer (as in, was it in response to an email inquiry or did you eventually get the same email automated email as others)? Did you find out that you had been accepted, waitlisted, or rejected only a week before the program start? Trying to make sense of this process thinking maybe each semester is a little bit different, especially with the pandemic?
I prompted an advisor many times. They kept mentioning that decisions were still being made but I was seeing on this forum that people were admitted / rejected / waitlisted already. Once the advisor notified me of my denial my portal was updated. Like I said I think something fishy happened because everyone else was notified around a month before me. The only way I can make sense of it is that my application was lost. I never received any automated emails throughout the process except for the initial one that my preliminary review was completed

1) Is this just what we're assuming based on how this cohort went (with admissions being offered to people we know were waitlisted for the Spring)? Or, has anyone received confirmation of this from an actual academic advisor at SMU?
2) Was anyone on this thread waitlisted in Spring and not offered acceptance for Summer?
Thanks!
Just going with what happened with this cohort. Also an advisor “strongly” encouraged me to reapply for fall (im waitlisted)

Thanks for getting back to me. That sounds beyond frustrating!! I'd like to reach out to an advisor myself. Would you feel comfortable sharing contact info for the advisor you've emailed with?

I’ll just say that it was a SM advisor and he’s not good at getting back ?. -------------------------- is in Sacramento but sometimes helps other campuses. I’d say you have a better chance at her responding promptly. You can also call the campus. Actually I think that’s how I eventually got the attention of the advisor.

Thanks, that's helpful!

If you don’t mind me asking what place you are on the waitlist? Are you on the waitlist for oakland?

I remember several posts back someone mentioning that everyone who is waitlisted gets automatic acceptance in the next cohort start. A couple of questions about this:
