It’s definitely a lot of money and if you cannot pay your loans in full after graduation, interest accumulates. Do you have options? Have you been admitted to a cheaper program?

Everyone’s financial situation is different. Based on my conversation with my cousin who graduated from the program 100% through loans (80k) and paid minimum payments later, with interest it’s around $1000 a month for 10 years. It’s a lot of interest in my opinion. So just have an honest conversation with yourself if this is what you want to do.

You may find comfort in the fact that some Bay Area hospitals pay $100 an hour. So even with 80k, your loans could be paid off in way less than 10 years if you’re working a lot and putting it towards debt.

Sorry kind of a tangential response but I just think again everyone’s situation is different.

Ah yes, thats what my calculations are at right now! that 1k sounds crazy but I did hear salary is high. Im just afraid of not finding a job.... I cannot move T_T.

How hard was it for your cousin to find one?

I always wanted to be a nurse (you can see my posts back in from like 2013). I just decided to get my BS in something else health related that I thought I would like. But after working for few years I realized I want more hands-on patient care and to stab people.

Ah, I'll get off my soap opera.

Stab people ??

she graduated many years ago. She moved to SoCal initially for work because at the time it wasn’t the easiest finding a job in the Bay. But she’s back here now that she has experience. Sorry I don’t know how hard or easy it is right now to find work as a new nurse.

I may have a different view in these things but I believe it’s a privilege to have access to loans. So many people in the world would love to have opportunities but can’t because they don’t have funding. So I feel very lucky to be able to get one in order to pursue my dreams. I realize this sounds sappy haha but it’s just how I think. Sounds like you have been wanting to be a nurse for a while!

Again this is my view only. I understand people have children and mortgages and sometimes pursuing a dream isn’t the easiest. Just trust your gut feeling I guess!

@HSKN Whoops, forgot one of your questions - yes, the test was different for me.

Thank you for your information about TEAS Test.

I am really sure that if we can go through Nursing school.  We can pay off the loan quickly.  According to KHN, more than 2,900 health care workers died this year, and the government barely kept track.  So, I think nursing school is still popular and we still need more nurses.

Ah, do you guys think the pandemic caused more people to apply for RN school or less? I heard about the Fauci Effect for MD's.
