Samuel Merritt ABSN - San Mateo June 09

Updated:   Published

To all perspective SMC ABSN San Mateo Summer 09 students:

As the Nov 01 application deadline approaches, we should be at least finishing up with our application; some of us may have already mailed it out. Congratulations on taking an important step toward a successful nursing career!

I'm going to mail out my application this week. Currently taking English 1B and patho, I'll take speech and sociology next quarter. Life is not as hectic as when I was taking A&P and chem classes; attending both lecture and lab is so time-consuming. Now I can go zumba-ing 3-4 times a week at Clubone in San Jose. Life as a pre-nursing student is still good, even though I'm not contributing to my 401k.

Please use this thread to get to know each other, to prepare ourselves for the rigorous ABSN program, and to help each other succeed. Why? Because it's in giving that we're receiving!

Starbelly,

I completely agree about being "professional". I bit my tongue plenty while working with Lizzy to get my application to actually go to the review board. They never apologized, but I continued to thank them....

Anyway, I'm going to Oakland....looking forward to meeting you :).

Hey everyone! I finally got a call today after being #12 on the waiting list and will be going to San Mateo tomorrow for the orientation. I was hoping to get into the Oakland campus since it has the best resources. I'm anxious!

Congratulations justwant2beanurse!!!! You must be thrilled!!!!

I'm anxious b/c there's so much stuff I have to turn in before class starts June 1st! LOANS especially! Thanks RN@be...!!!

Hi,

I am hopping someone knows the answer.... I have taken NET two times and first time did better in math but second time did better in English. Can Samuel Merritt take one test result from each section or do they look at one test only? HELP!!! Thanks!

I THINK that they can't split them up but I would ask the school. I know that question did come up at an info session. I also believe they look more strongly at science reading than the math.

THANKS!!! ANYONE ELSE MIGHT KNOW THE ANSWER?!?!??!:uhoh3:

they look more at the science reading. as long as you did over 70, you're okay. starting may, they stopped accepting the NET test; it's the TEAS now.

Does anyone know if there is any information regarding uniforms and shoes at SM for clinic? Will we find that info out at Orientation?

Starbelly, I got one word for you: WHITE!!!

i was at the san mateo orientation. white scrubs and white shoes!

we have to wear the white top that identifies us as SMU students sold at the bookstore but you can wear any kind of white scrub bottoms. our instructor said to invest in nude color panties bc he doesn't want to see any thongs or black panties. lol.

I have been buying nude for the last month :-) ..haven't made it to the bookstore yet. Do you know is there just one style of top?

Thanks

Sadly, Only one style of scrub top! And an XS is huge! Scrubs always run big
