I guess it all depends on the area and the cost of living in that area. I personally feel that is a low rate to start a nurse at! I am a nursing student, and our LPN's start out at $15. Nurses start between $21-$26 per hour. How about looking into other hospitals into that same area? If they all pay that, then you know that is what that area pays.

I live in a rural area between Knoxville and Chatt. I worked hh in an area that was closer to Knoxville for 3 years and in August changed jobs and am now working in the other direction which is closer to Chattanooga. The Chattanooga direction is higher than Knoxville (it may have something to do with being a little closer to Atlanta). The Knoxville pay is not that great. The hospital that sent you the packet in Maryville (I think I know which one it is) is a pretty big hospital for the area. Maryville is not that far from Knoxville, so I'd say pay would be comparable at Knoxville hospitals.

Hi,
Im moving to KNoxville and have started looking at the local hospitals. This one hospital in Maryville sent me an info packet stating they started new grads at 16.?? /hr, Is this true for this area? I know MAryville isnt KNoxville, but just wondering if this was normal? I'm from Texas and our teaching hospital we have clinicals at are starting new grads at 21-25/hr. Just wanted an insiders opinion.
