Just wondering what would be the salary of a recent grad with a BSN in NYC?? and also what would be the salary of a nurse with a master's... I know there are tons of sites that say a RN should make about 60,000 but I just wanted to ask real nurses from NY to get an idea of the figures... THANKS

Hi everybody, I am new to this thread but i been reading all these comments which are very helpful so I decided to be a part of this forum. I am actually from dayton, ohio and I don't know if you can give me any salary info for dayton hospitals and the starting pay rate for a newly grad with ADN. I am in the nursing program right now but I just want to get an idea. Thank you in advance for any info or advice.

You'll have to find salary info on the OHIO section of this site.

RN's do make very good money. In NY especially. The starting salary is $65K a year for RN's not $40K a year like accountants/cpa's make. To the person who said that accountants make more, is bull. A nursing student graduating with an associates can even expect to make more than an accountant right out of college. So go figure!

Using NY is a very broad term. There is more to NY than NYC. The starting salary in NYC is 65K and up but not NY in general. If you go outside NYC, the rate drops. I was offered a RN job in upstate NY as a new grad and the offered salary that is nowhere near 65K but down in the 40ks range.
Re: who makes more ?the accountant vs nurse. All I have to say is, not all nurses make more than CPAs and not all accountants make more than nurses. I worked for a small family business in the accounting department as a clerk couple of years ago in NYC. While we were paid peanuts, our CPA made 100K plus.

Does anyone know how much an hr a new grad (BSN) with a passing NCLEX is? Or rather what the starting pay is for a new grad (BSN) without taking the NCLEX yet? I never seem to get any answers on the pay scale. I would love to hear some insight on this topic. Thanks!
