Salaries for L/D nurses in Denver area

I am seriously considering relocating from the Charleston SC area to the Denver area in spring of next year for a variety of reasons, but principally to attend midwifery school. The cost of renting houses there is considerably more expensive than what I am used to and since I have 2 kids, one on the way, a husband and 3 biggish dogs, I really need the space that a house provides.

So, my question is this: how much should an L/D nurse with one year of experience expect to make in the Denver area? I would obviously need a job offer before moving. My husband works for himself in construction, so he would just have to find a job when we get there.

Also, any suggestions for cheaper suburbs of Denver? I'm willing to drive 30-40 minutes to work, but not hours

A nurse with one year experience can expect to start around $26-28/hour base pay.

Some less expensive suburbs of Denver would be Westminster, Thornton, Northglenn, Commerce City, Aurora.

Thank you. That is much lower than I anticipated, especially considering how much more expensive housing is. Its not much more than what I make as a new grad in sc.

I know. I had serious sticker shock when I moved here from AZ. I took a $4/hour paycut.

Of all the facilities, Denver Health has the reputation of offering the highest salaries in the Denver area for nurses, so I would maybe look there.
