Hi, I didn't see a forum for the ABSN program and thought that I would start one. Has anyone applied to the program? I have to take the TEAS exam, and then wait for a decision. I'm so nervous!

Thank you!!
I also plan on utilizing some federal loans. However, worth noting that there is a $12,500 annual limit for “Independent students.” There is also a lifetime max, so if you have any federal loans from your first degree, that could limit the amount you can borrow for this degree.

Great question. Something that we’ve all probably thought about to some extent. I think that this question varies from person to person. For me, I considered a few things when comparing the two schools: 1) total cost (Saint Peters is lower)
2) location (I live really close to Saint Peters)
3) size of program (Saint Peter’s is very small, some people prefer that)
4) length of program (NJCU is 12 months vs 15 months for Saint Peters)
5) testimonials from current/previous students at each school
All that to say, I’m sure both has pros and cons. But you will achieve ultimate goal of becoming an RN with either option. Good luck thinking through your decision.

I mean we could not tell you which is better since non of us have actually started either program LOL. But I would say NJCU is cheaper I think there program is 13,000 or is it 13,000 per semester?? I like Saint Peter’s cause they have a small class where as NJCU Jersey city campus takes 60 students.

Damn I’m ***ed LOL! If I can pay half out of pocket and half in loans that will be great. Ugh this is stressful!

Yeah, NJCU is almost 13k per semester for a total of 3 semesters. So it’s going to be a few thousand more than Saint Peters. But not a huge difference.
You should also check out some private loans! Some private lenders are offering fixed rates at or below the rates of federal loans. Although that’s likely to change in the coming months because the Fed is raising their interest rate.

Hey Congrats! Can’t wait to meet you! Also, how did you apply for federal loans? I filled out the FAFSA form. Do I have to fill out a separate form for the unsubsidized and subsidized loans too?

Ohh it’s per semester! But there books is covered and there uniforms as well.
Can someone start the facebook group for the 2022 Cohort? So we all can meet and start talking? Post the link when you can. I would but I can’t get into my account right now ? . I tried joining the last one when it was almost over to get feedback from the graduating class and it always got denied LOL!

Thanks! Im excited to meet everyone! I haven’t actually applied for any loans yet. I’ll prob start looking this week. However, from what I remember, as long as you fill out FAFSA, they will send you something with an option to accept the subsidized/unsubsidized loans. We will prob also have to sign/complete the master promissory note (I think I did that for my last federal loan).

I asked Patricia if books and uniforms is covered with tuition and she said she didn’t think so. So I’m waiting for orientation to see what happens. I would be surprised if uniforms aren’t covered! Most schools provide scrubs with the schools name on it.
