Published

Hi there! Just wanted to reach out to see if anyone has made a thread for Saint Mary's University of Minnesota CRNA application for the program starting in 2024?

Hi everyone

I'm interested in attending St. Mary's and want to send in my application 2025.

For those who got accepted how many years of ICU experience did you have and does it matter if it isn't a trauma level 1

did you have any other certifications besides CCRN?

thank you

Happy to share but also remember, you're a unique individual and that's how you should present yourself.  They want a well rounded class and get so many qualified applicants, you'll stand out by showing them who you are.  Definitely take the necessary steps like certifications etc. but also do them because they'll make you a better nurse NOW and a better CRNA in the future.  Best of luck on your future apps! I have nearly 9 years ICU experience in a MICU, Level II hospital, major transplant center. I have my CCRN and CMC. As a second career RN I have my Masters.  Hold several leadership roles. I wouldn't have waited so long to apply but honestly COVID and having 2 kids delayed my initial plans ?

Hi Fimbi33!
I have 4 years of CVICU experience. 2 at a smaller facility (no trauma designation) and the rest at a level 1 where we take all devices + ECMO. I don't think trauma level matters so much as acuity — I had some really sick patients at my first hospital and drew upon those experiences.

other stats - 3.67 science GPA, 3.9 nursing, preceptor, relief charge, CCRN/CMC/CSC

Good luck and I hope to see you at Saint Mary's in the future ?

Thank you, I really appreciate your response. I'm graduating with my ADN this week and I wanted to plan ahead, have all my ducks in a row?

I still need to take a chemistry course and also my BSN. CRNA school feels so far into the future but yet so close.

I just get really excited thinking about CRNA school!!

Congratulations on graduating, that is a huge accomplishment! I know it seems so far away, but time will fly by! In regard to ICU, just be a sponge - flexible and open to criticism - and you will do wonderfully! No one is expecting anything of you at this point - just that you'll ask questions and perform duties safely. I also never mentioned my interest in CRNA school as I have personally seen colleagues get sabotaged by this (I.e., giving them easier assignments so they don't have the complexity/acuity needed for CRNA school, delaying training on devices/post-ops, etc.).

I would also start studying for the CCRN around the 6-month mark. I know the requirements state 2 years of ICU experience, but as long as you have 1750 hours, you're good to go. I hit this within my first year just by picking up a few shifts here and there. It was also valuable knowledge that improved my nursing care.

I heard back- they basically said there isn't a definitive date but sooner is better than later and that enrollment usually occurs in February. I'm planning to wait until the zoom meeting offered for MSA next week and see how that goes and make my decision after that.

From what I remember they said they would get back to everyone by today, has anyone heard anything today? I know offers were out last Friday but just wondering

Nothing over here. Are people just waiting on rejection emails or are they still sending out acceptance emails?

Still have not heard anything either way in mail or email
