U.S.A. Missouri

Hey! Has anyone applied to St. Luke's in Kansas City for the Fall of 2012? If so, do you know when we should be recieveing our acceptance letters?

Good luck! :)

Oh it is a course of three shots not a class. The health department on Troost has it for free and while you're there get a DTAP and varicella for free too. They are open all day except lunch hours. You can get a flu shot there too for 20 bucks and a TB test for 20 bucks, but you need two of those 1-3 weeks apart and they are free at the care clinic on Broadway, but they only do them Wednesday mornings and you must have it checked on a friday morning (it's a two step process). I'm not sure what your schedule is, though, so the 40 buck at the PH clinic might be worth it.

Yea I realized you were talking about a course of 3 shots after I hit send. Lol! I think all the info was putting my mind in overload for a second. Im registered for the BLS class for Dec. 17th at St. Lukes East, so I have that taken care of. I just went ahead and made a doctor's appt for my immunizations. Thanks again for your help and hope we can meet soon :)

Hey MichaelaR27, do you have a personal email address I can email you at or would you mind emailing me at [email protected]. Ihave a few qquestions abouthow how your schedule is as Ive been trying to explain things to my kom (as shes my help and support with mybaby) and she also will have to work around my sschedule.

I just feel so left in the dark! Its nerve wracking. I try not to allow it to take a toll on me but its hard when u dont know anyone to ask as I dont know anyone in the program. I keep telling my mom that I have found AN and u all are SUPER nice and helpful

I would be in the same class as you and there is a nice set schedule. Its 8-330 wednesday, 645-5, Thursday, and 10-12 Friday. Thursday and friday could be different depending on your small clinical group. Some have a single class on Thursday and a full clinical day on Friday. It just depends on what you choose and what will be available when you enroll. But, it is the same schedule for the entire semester. The schedule varies depending on what year stage you're in. Hope that helps. dg

So there is no class or clinicals on Mondays or Tuesdays?? Thanks for the insight! U are so kind and helpful, I really hope I have an opportunity to meet you one day to thank u in person. I imagined the schedule to be so different. I thought it would be everyday thing. Soooo....sounds like I need to arrange childcare on Thursdays since my daughter's school doesn't open until 6:30a....I wouldn't want to rush getting to clinicals.

Hey do you know if we will be going to different hospitals for clinicals on varies days or will clinicals primarily be held at Saint Lukes plaza?

Hey there! Has anyone ever used pageburst before or do you plan on it for this semester? I'm trying to decide if I should get all printed books or switch to ebook when its available since its generally cheaper.

I thought about the page bursts but I want to resell some of my books and I think the access codes will allow you to access the text online. So, it's the best of both worlds. Also, if a tablet got stolen I didn't want to go through hassle. I'm not sure if I am fight, but that is what I went with.

geez, can we get a grant for textbooks?! My wallet is not liking this business so far :-/

I know, right? I am ordering through the school this term, but I think I will work over the summer and save so that I can buy off of Amazon next term. The thing with that is access codes still would need to be purchased, so it isn't really much of a savings overall. My books are on their way, and I am hoping to get a couple chapters ahead before the start of the semester. I hear that is the key to keeping sane this semester.

dg, you are so on top of things, I love it! I'm hoping a lot of our texts are used next term too so supplies won't cost nearly as much. I'm starting to think about nuts and bolts survival right now. Like, I have to clearly cut my hours at work so I won't be eligible for health insurance and I'm way over the age limit to be on my parents' plan. What do I do about complying with ACA? I'm having word vomit right now, but it's helping me keep from freaking out. :)

I signed up and it wasn't that expensive. I tried no less than 20 times to be able to do it though. I think the site will run considerably more smooth for you now. Everyone qualifies, just go to the website. I got a stellar plan with bells and whistles for about 80 bucks. I am not going to work even a night a week until I understand what is required. I would rather be poor than fail so its going to be Le Mis in my house for a couple of weeks until financial aid comes through. Spoon, you are very on top of things too. I can't wait to get to know you and everyone else better. dg

#3 on the waiting list!! Still keeping my fingers crossed!
