Saint John, New Brunswick?

My husband just applied for a job there, and I am wondering if anyone can tell me about Saint John itself. I have looked online and found a great deal of information, but there were two things I wanted to find more about.

First is there more than one Catholic grade school? My daughter attends one here, and I would like her to remain in one if possible.

And second, I am supposed to start school this year, but if we move I will have to put it off a year, and start next year (which is okay, as long as I get to do it eventually). Where is live now, there is only an LPN program (at a community college, that is literally all that is within a 4 hour distance), and I hadn't looked at 4 year programs. Are there jobs for LPN's (which I know I can take at the community college in Saint John too) or really just for RN's so I would have to take the 4 year program at the University?

Hi there! As a former Saint Johner.... good luck with the move and I hope you enjoy living there.

I don't really have any info on the catholic schools... I know there are at least two, but again... not too sure.

As far as nursing programs go, you have two choices. One, there is an LPN course through the local community college. It is a very in demand program and there is a lot of competition for it. The deadline for applications is Nov.1, but I would recommend getting you application in by the last week of October. (I'm applying for the same course in Miramichi, NB)

As far as an RN course, there is a bachelor of nursing course offered at the Universite of New Brunswick - Saint John. I'm not too familiar with it personally, but I've heard good things. Again, it's very competitive.

As far as jobs go, there are quite a few for both LPN's and RN's. The Saint John Regional Hospital and the St. Josephs Hospital are always hiring staff, and there are many Long Term Care Facilities and Care homes around the city if hospital nursing isn't for you.

Saint John is a nice place, and I wish you the best of luck with moving!:yeah:
