Informed recently that Safeguarding Investigations will become a compulsory part of community nurse role in UK. Not comfortable with this at all. Have no problem raising a safeguarding concern, then hand over to social worker for completion. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated please. Thank you.

Can you describe what a Safeguarding Investigation is?

Really? Who said that?
What does it say in your contract of employment and/or your job description. Get your union involved ASAP.
Always remember that social workers will try anything to reduce their workload and pass it on to someone else. (I have a very poor opinion of social workers based on a long history of dealing with them). In our area there was an enquiry about child safeguarding concerns and it was discovered that the ED nurses (and paeds nurses) were really good at picking up on possible problems but the system fell down when it went to social work.
