Hey Everyone,
all of the threads relating to Saddleback seem to be a year (or more) old so I thought I'd start a new one...
I was just curious if anyone out there had any information about the number of applicants for the Spring 2014 cycle, or if anyone's heard where they're at with sending letters out. I'm getting anxious! September 30th seems SO far away...
I'm so glad someone posted a new thread, I just kept reading the old ones to cling on to something while I anxiously wait for the letters! I have a friend working in the Nursing department, she texted me this morning while she was stuffing the envelopes!!!! We should get them by tomorrow!! I am excited about the low number of applicants, but it also worries me. Magnet status at hospitals is pushing everyone into BSN programs which makes me wonder if Saddleback still holds its status, and if jobs will be available for the ADN when we graduate..anyone else a little concerned?
Mandilove, I am a little concerned as well, but also hear these rumors have been going around for a long time. I know they are still hiring ADNs. From all I have read, and the people I talked to, it is about networking, and or getting a job as a PCT, if you can, of course work very little. be that Stand out student. I agree with a 4th semester nursing professor at saddleback that it is best to get your ADN first for good bedside skills, then move up to higher degrees. Just my opinion and why I am going this route.
Thank you for letting us know about the letters. I haw read in past threads that letters come on different days. Do you know if alternates come later, then accepted? Or do they send out all letters the same day?
Thanks
Good luck!
My letter is here!! I'm in!!! Yayyyyy!! Good luck to the rest of you!!
Woo! Congrats, me too!
kellbell949, I'm sorry. Did you take any of the classes (speech, pharm, psych, etc.)? I had those, and it helped a lot, I think. Not only for the points, but also so you don't have to worry about them when you're in the program.
It's taken me a loooooong time to take pre-reqs and such, I had nothing. I know how much it sucks (been there---didn't get into PA school) but just keep doing what you can to improve your application, and you'll get in!
I have taken all the class I can take. I have been on this road for 4 years and it's frustrating. I had 69 points and I did well on the teas. I'm confused more than anything. I wasn't even an alternate. I think I'm going to focus my attention on my bachelors and stop running in this rat race. I am going to meet with a counselor and see what my options are. I am going to be a nurse one way or another:)
