Terminated. Pursue a Lawsuit?
My hospital uses this system. I am a new grad and I was really surprised to find this out. While I appreciate the convenience, it seems like a terrible idea, especially when an order for a med is written for a range (e.g., give 0.5-2mg q2 hours).

Obtaining IP in CA
Hi everyone, I have combed this site looking for an answer to my question, but I haven't found anything current on the topic. So, here is my question: I applied for licensure by examination about 4 weeks ago. At the time when I applied, IPs and Initial Licenses were being processed at the same time (10-12 weeks) so it didn't seem beneficial to apply for an IP. Plus, I had head from many that most hospitals wouldn't take it since things are so competitive here in CA. Buuuut, I was just offered a position starting at the end of January!!! Obviously, this is cutting it extremely close! Chances are good that I won't even have my ATT by then, let alone have my license. (I graduate 12/15). Has anyone attempted to apply for their IP AFTER already submitting their application to the board? I am super desperate here, and even willing to make the drive to Sacramento if that's what it takes! Thoughts? Ideas? Phone numbers? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!!! -AAAD

Working Fulltime Nights While in School
I am starting a position where I will be working full time nights (3 12s; 1900-0730). I am currently in nursing school full time as well... I haven't started yet, but my plan is first part of the week will be devoted to school and the second devoted to work. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have been A/B student so far, but that was with a lot of free time... I'm nervous about having enough time for care plans and studying, but I'm more nervous about the flip-flopping between days and nights. I am a night person, so nights per se aren't worrisome, but like I said, the flip-flopping... Ugh. Hoping to hear from others who've had similar schedules and tips for surviving (already have dyphenhydramine, blackout curtains, and a white noise machine! :))

Saddleback Spring 2014
I'm sorry. I hear ya...I have been working on pre-reqs, not getting accepted, etc. for several years now, too. It sucks, but it sounds like you've got a plan! Good luck!

Saddleback Spring 2014
Woo! Congrats, me too! kellbell949, I'm sorry. Did you take any of the classes (speech, pharm, psych, etc.)? I had those, and it helped a lot, I think. Not only for the points, but also so you don't have to worry about them when you're in the program. It's taken me a loooooong time to take pre-reqs and such, I had nothing. I know how much it sucks (been there---didn't get into PA school) but just keep doing what you can to improve your application, and you'll get in!

Saddleback Spring 2014
Wow, that's crazy... Hopefully I'll be put out of my anxious misery soon. The last couple of months have brought so many changes, I'm reeeeeeaaally hoping for an acceptance letter in the mail box! This is my second time applying as they lost one set of my transcripts last time (I was told they had them when I called to confirm:no:) I applied, and I only discovered this when I got the letter in the mail. Good luck, everybody!! Hoping we all get one of those 60 spots. If it's true there's only 125 applicants, we have significantly better odds!

Saddleback Spring 2014
I'm not too sure how many points I have because I re-took a class, which changes my GPA. I'm thinking around 72 points.

Saddleback Spring 2014
Hey Everyone, all of the threads relating to Saddleback seem to be a year (or more) old so I thought I'd start a new one... I was just curious if anyone out there had any information about the number of applicants for the Spring 2014 cycle, or if anyone's heard where they're at with sending letters out. I'm getting anxious! September 30th seems SO far away...
