Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello,

I have been trying to find a either LVN or ADN program without a wait in my area but have had no luck. I know all the JC and University programs are impacted but I thought maybe a private scholl may be a better route. I looked at Maric College, and SJVCC but have not had any luck. Is it wisheful thinking on my part to think I can find a nursing program without a wait? Any advice or resources would be a big help.

I can totally feel you pain and frustrations with this one!

I applied for 2 years and just finally was accepted for Fall 08.

Here in the Sac area we are all in a bottleneck and getting through to the next level is really hard. Many schools that have the ADN are lotto. Yuba has a waitlist along with Shasta. Delta does go on a point system and State is the same.

I would say if you have an opportunity to move, try Humbolt or maybe college of the Redwoods. They are up north but they have less applicants that apply.

I wish you the best of luck!!

The private schools don't have a wait, but they're $$. There's Western Career College, Unitek, HealthCare College of CA and Xavier. The last two are in Stockton and I heard they're a little cheaper, but it's still a lot more than you'd pay at a junior college. The only thing I can suggest is apply at as many programs as you can since that will increase your odds for the lottery programs, and then put yourself on the wait list at Yuba and Solano. I've heard of some people that get accepted to the lottery programs the first time, so you could be one of the lucky ones. Good luck with your decision.

thank you for your help. I am going to look into all those programs. I am really anxious to get started. I have never had a job that I really enjoy, I have always worked to just support our family, so nursing would be an opportunity to really enjoy my work and a chance to make a difference, so I am really anxious to get started. thanks

does western career college require you to take outside courses like anatomy/phys ect or they offer it there too?

My friend wants to go there since she hopes theirs less pre-reqs and classes but i havent found anything stating they do.

also they take care clerkships too?

thanks for any help

i dont know how to edit but im pretty sure i found the answer (yes)

sorry for the question
