Sac State Pre-Nursing

Published

I will be a freshman at Sac State with Expressed Interest in Nursing. I am trying to follow the 4 year plan on the website, and it says I should take BIO10 and BIO25 my first semester. Can anyone tell me what classes they took their freshman year? I am having trouble trying to figure it out :(

Current CSUS nursing student, here!

If i were you i'd take more mellow classes your first semester. Give yourself a chance to get the hang of things before you go for the sciences! Remember, you have to get A's!

I would start with GE courses and maybe a critical thinking prereq along with english.

I agree with aksp as well. However I will add this:

The absolute best thing you can do is meet with a counselor (or two or three - I've received wrong info before!). Have them setup an educational plan for you that will plan what to take each semester in order to satisfy the requirements for the nursing program.

Also, just remember that some courses need to be taken as prerequisites to others. This may take 2-3 semesters, and most nursing programs require you to be complete with prerequisites the year before you start the program (Fall 2018 to start nursing program Fall 2019, etc). So, if you map it all out and you don't want to take MicroBio or Chemistry with Anatomy or Physiology, it is very possible that you do want to take a science course your first semester along with some easier courses like Gen Ed English, etc.

Hope that helps, go see a counselor! Best of luck!
