Sac State Fall 2013 Applicants

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am about to send in my application to CSU Sacramento for Fall 13 and was wondering if there are any other people in the same predicament. Would love love to hear your experiences as well.

scwolf- I see a community page, but no group page. I think as long as the group isn't secret, the group itself should be visible to everyone. maybe there was a glitch and the group was never actually created?

OK, thanks. I'll try again.

All right. I think it worked this time. Try it!

Should we be using the same search terms? I am not getting any results for it now.

Also, thank you for all this effort!

Argh, sorry I'm not better at this. I made a "closed" group, but not "secret," named "Sac State BSN Fall 2013." I'm sitting there all by my lonesome. :saint: ... Is there something else I should do?

If you PM me your name (whatever you go by on FB), I could probably invite you.

I guess for now, anyone who'd like to be on the Facebook page should PM me with their email. Then I can "invite" you. I did make it Open but it still doesn't show up when I search either. Darn. PM me!

Thank you!

Maybe if everyone goes to fb and then adds "/groups/142312835955474/" to the url that will work?

Also, I believe you need an account to view the page. Sorry Mommato3crazies.

Eama4444 I tried adding that ending to the URL and it took me right to it. Thank you! It'll be nice to put a face to everyone we've been talking to these last few months. So I should be joined with the group as soon as its accepted.

Anyone going to the June 14th orientation?

Yeay, michelle_13!! That makes 3 members. Thanks, eama4444, for the tip.

Well since not everybody has joined the FB page, or doesn't have a FB account I'll just post this here.

I went to the nursing panel and it was pretty helpful. There were a lot of people there who are still in the prerequisites so some time was spent going over the qualifications to get in.

As far as what to expect while in the program here's the major points that were went over:

-they said that once you get to nursing school you will have to get over being that perfectionist who always wants an A. One of the girls actually mentioned that she got an 80 on her first nursing exam and she balled her eyes out because she was so used to getting A's. They said get used to B's and C's a lot of the times.

-they also went over each semester a bit. The first is general med-surg, second I forget lol, third is peds and OB, and 4th is your senior preceptorship which is where u get to pick which floor you liked the best out of your rotations and spend a bunch of hours there learning.

-then they went over pharmacology and a lot of them had mixed feelings about taking it before or during the program. According to them though pharmacology will be incorporated into the program starting with our class. But the lady in the back (not sure who she was) said that it was not a for sure thing. But if this does turn out to be true that would mean that you really wouldn't have to take it now if you havnt taken it already. But if it does turn out to still be a requirement some said they wished they had taken it before but some suggested taking this summer off to rest! So, I guess it really depends on the person. If you havnt taken it yet and your debating whether to take it this summer, I suggest emailing to find out if it is indeed out.

- Also, there is going to be this test that we take like the second week into school that we have to pass with a 90 or better! It's on medical terminology, so they suggested getting a medical terminology book this summer and going over it a bit.

-lastly I asked about working while in the program. The main message was that the 1st and 2nd semesters are the hardest and that you should really not work. And to even take out loans if you have to. BUT there were two that said that working ONE 8 hour shift a week was doable. But that's it.

I think that covers most of it. Overall I found it to be pretty helpful. Hope this helps guys.
