Sac State Fall 2013 Applicants

U.S.A. California

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am about to send in my application to CSU Sacramento for Fall 13 and was wondering if there are any other people in the same predicament. Would love love to hear your experiences as well.

Yes I'm A sac state student. That's one of the reasons why sac state is the only program I'm applying to.

Wow, how nice!! So, you almost have a guaranteed spot. It's a little crazy worrying about getting accepted into the University, and then the School of Nursing. I'm anxiously waiting for March 1st, then everything else follows.

Well I wouldn't say I have a guaranteed spot. They give equal consideration to sac state students and transfer students. And I wouldn't worry too much about getting into the university. If you meet the gpa requirements for the nursing program, then you far exceed the gpa requirements for the university. You'll be fine!

Thank you! It is nice to hear that those classes aren't too bad. Especially with the idea of working on them online so they can work with my schedule. Maybe I will try to find lifespan online over the summer at some other college if I can find one that offers it and has an opening...

I totally relate to you wanisai, about being nervous on University admissions. Even though there is probably no reason for us to worry, it is yet another step we have to get past. This whole process makes me anxious!

So, I take it that you have had a good experience at Sac State, Nurseinthemaking20? That bodes well for the school. And from all my stalking of old Sac State threads, I am guessing you won't have any problem getting into the nursing program.

Yes I've had a good experience here. I feel generally confident about my score, but who knows. Last fall, the first point cut off was 69, so if you had 69 and up you were in without even getting put on the wait list. Then it went down to 62 after wait list adds. From my research the point cut off tends to go up about 2 points with each fall semester so I wanted at least 72 points to feel good about my chances.

So where are you guys transferring from?

I am currently going to Los Medanos College. The nursing program here is pure lottery :(.

I prefer going straight for a BSN though, so I am really hoping for Sac State this Fall!

I think I would get so frustrated with lottery based programs, that's why I'm not even bothering with those. I don't want to wait. I've worked hard and I'm ready to see my hard work finally pay off.

You should definately get in! But I understand being anxious regardless.

It is quite a process!!

It's quite reassuring that you are having a positive experience Nurseinthemaking20..and the fact that Sac State is the only school you applied to speaks to how comfortable you are with the school.

I am based in Los Angeles, and am hoping that the out of area status will not thwart my chances of getting accepted...I will stay positive:yes: In any case, eama4444, did you get the email about the transcripts from the admissions office? Something about the deadline being extended to Feb 11th?..I almost freaked out thinking they might not have received my transcripts yet..

Yeah, I'm glad Sac State is doing the point system. It just seems like a fair system to me. At least it's based on how much work each individual puts in and not just luck. I would lose my sanity with the lottery system.

Yes wanisai, I got the email and I had the same thought as you! I was very relieved when I read the email and realized there was no issue, and they were even giving extra time for those who need it.

The lottery system is definitely frustrating and disappointing for most people. The point systems are so much better, and I really like that they post the criteria online for everyone to know ahead of time what kind of points they can expect.

A point system is definately the most fair. I'm just so glad that there is one point based program in the area. But yes I'm pretty comfortable with sac state. It's supposed to be the second largest nursing program in the csu system.

Oh wow..I didn't know Sac State was the second largest nursing program in the CSU system!!
