Sac State Fall 2013 Applicants

U.S.A. California

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am about to send in my application to CSU Sacramento for Fall 13 and was wondering if there are any other people in the same predicament. Would love love to hear your experiences as well.

Do you know if we have to attend a school orientation still even if we get in the program? Because I know there's a mandatory nursing orientation the week before school.

Nurseinthemaking20: Thank you! Yes, I feel like if I can get through pre-reqs with my little squirts the.

Oops got cut off..ha ha.. anyway, just hoping at this point I get into the program! You have a little one running around so you understand the craziness!! :-)

I am interested in trauma and my ultimate goal is CRNA.

Michelle_13: if your a transfer student, yes I think you do still have to attend the general new student orientation. Don't quote me on that but I'm pretty sure you do. It's pretty simple, they allow time for u to get your student I'd card and things like that. Then they split u up based on your major and u go to like a little session with a speaker who talks about your major When I attended my new student orientation (I was a lower division transfer) I went the nursing major group, and there were a few in there who were already accepted into the program. That's why I'm pretty sure u will have to. I'll never forget the lady kept saying, we own you, so let your families know, we own you. Lol talk about scaring everyone.

Michelle_13: my friend in the program at Sac State said it is mandatory to attend orientation to the university even though you are admitted to the program. Seems odd since (once admitted) we would have to attend orientation for nursing program?!

Nursemommaof3boys- I've always admired the parents that I met in my prerequisites. I always wondered how the heck they do it. When my stepson is here I can't get much of anything done. He likes to ask A LOT of questions and sit right up under me when I'm studying. But then he's with his mom half the time, plus my significant others mother is available to babysit whenever so I don't shoulder that much of a burden. So for all those parents out there with multiple children and going into nursing I commend you.

Great interests. It's nice to hear that some of us already have ideas on what we want to do.

Nurseinthemaking20-It is challenging to say the least, but I believe if you want something bad enough you just figure it out lol! My husband and I lost everything in 2007 (we were loan officers) and at that point I decided to go back to school. I never, ever, wanted to be in that position again. It has been a long road and I am just praying I get in to the program; then it will feel like all the craziness and hard work has paid off! :-)

Kids are hilarious! They always want the focus to be on them as you know with your step son.

Nursemommaof3boys: I couldn't agree more. If you want something, you work your butt off to get it, and even when things don't seem doable, like you said you figure it out. I am right there with you. I just want that acceptance so that I can sigh with relief and happiness that my hard work paid off. I'm terrified of everything I did turning out to be a waste. I've neglected a lot of relationships (friends, family, and my significant other) in order to get what I need done. Thankfully most of them are understanding, but wouldn't it be so terrible to go through all of that and then not get in? I don't want to face that.

Hi everyone! Finally decided to post on here after reading the forum! I applied to Sac State with a 4.0 and a 92 on the TEAS. I have 85 points total. The wait is definitely tough! I hope we all get in. My goal is to be in the Navy Nurse Corps after I graduate.

Nurseinthemaking20- I totally agree, it would be heart wrenching to work so hard and not get accepted!! The wait will be anguishing, but at least we are here! Getting through the pre-reqs is an accomplishment in itself...so, now a new set of worries!!

Kaylab13- Welcome! I am new to the thread as of today as well! You have wonderful stats, congrats on your hard work!!

Nursemommaof3boys: Thank you. Congrats to you too! You're a great candidate. I eventually want to become a CRNA as well, so we have that in common!

Kaylab13- Great to hear we have the same goal!! Do you know where you would like to go for the CRNA program once you have completed your mandatory hours?

I hope we all get in! Ugh, the wait is agonizing.
