Hello,

I am very interested in Indian Health Services. I will graduate this December with my BSN and would like to talk to anyone who has worked for them. I would really like to get a job in Alaska (provided that I can afford to live there). So here are some questions:

Were you a comissioned officer?

How much experience did you have before you joined?

What did you love about it?

What did you hate about it?

Can you pick where you go and stay there?

Were you ever deployed? (If so, did you volunteer?)

Anything else you would like to share would be great.

FYI:There is a native health thread under the specialty issues. That might be of some use. I very much wanted to pursue this career path myself (and did many of my clinical rotations on reservations). At the time I was interested, job opportunities were very much limited to Native Americans. It may be different now.
