Rutgers- Newark Nursing Program

Published

I'm going be attending Rutgers- Newark this Spring. I have transferred science classes from my local CC like General Chem, A&P I,A&P II, Micro. I want to do the school to school transfer to get into the nursing program. Is there a way I can take lower level Nursing courses like Organic Biochemistry that are for nursing majors only?

Hey I am in the nursing program at Rutgers-Newark and yes you can take some lower level classes. I know you can take Pathophysiology, Organic Biochem, and Human Interactive Process and of course the electives. Be sure to maintain at least a 3.8 GPA because a friend of mine has all her pre-reqs and took all the lower level courses but they won't even consider her because she has a 3.4 GPA so she is going to finish up a degree in Psych and try to get into the accelerated program. Good Luck and if you have any questions let me know, I will be glad to help. I had so many questions before I started and couldn't find anyone to answer them til I actually started.

Thanks Dreaming1007 for all the insight. I just registered for Organic Biochem so hopefully all goes well.

HEY! i have a questionn! do any of you guys know about the nursing EOF program at rutgers newark? i wanted to ask what gpa you would need to get into the EOF nursing program! I am a sophomore, and i want to get into the nursing school! and is feeling discouraged! i don't know what to do! my GPA is a 3.0.

Thank You!

You need at least a 3.8 for the nursing program to even consider you, it is really competitive. A friend of mine is in Rutgers as a biology student and he has been applying to the nursing program for two years now with a 3.4 GPA and they won't even consider him. The EOF is more for financial aid but the entry requirements are still the same but don't get discouraged cause you still have senior year to bring your GPA up. You can always come to Rutgers as an undeclared major, get your GPA up with pre-reqs and then apply to the program.

ok THANKS! what was your gpa when you applied for the program? if you dont mind me asking! i went to the nursing program and they didn't even help me! so i want to talk to students like you! It'll help me a lot

*went to the nursing department

I had a 3.87....and I don't mind answering questions at all. I was in the similar situation when I became interested in Rutgers. I tried to contact everyone under the sun to inquire about the mursing program but they are so busy so I had to just wing it on my own but I managed. So feel free to ask away....I can't say much about clinicals yet cause I start them this Fall but other than that I will try to steer you in the right direction.

WOW thats a really good gpa! well congrats! how r the nursing classes? and how was the A&P class? im registered to take it in the summer! idk how thats going to go

I am trying to prepare to apply for the accelarated program next year. I see Rutgers doesn't have specifically Eng 101 as a prereq. I took this in high school as a pass/fail with a college so didn't take it as an undergrad. Do you know if this would be a problem? This is what I see for the accelerated program prereqs:

Prerequisites that must be completed prior to admission into the program: Intro to Sociology Anatomy & Physiology I and II Organic Biochemistry Microbiology Statistics Technology elective Nutrition* Life Span or Developmental Psych (Newborn to Elderly)* Human Interactive Processes or Interpersonal Communication* Cultural Dimensions of Humans & Their Environment*

I also am applying as a school to school transfer. My GPA, is a 3.786 on my transcript...

Do you think that I might be considered for a transfer, or because rounded-off my GPA is a 3.79 I am out of the game?

Still awaiting an answer..should hear by June 30 according to the website. (Missed an A in one of my classes last semester by .1%!!!! :(!)

Does anyone know if Rutgers accepts online courses. Applying to Accel program next year.
