Rush University GEM Spring 2018

Published

Hi, anyone else applied to the Rush GEM program for Spring 2018 yet? I know the deadline isn't until August but I had all of my items completed so I figured why not?

Question - does everyone who meets their minimum requirements get invited for the interview or do they actually screen the applicants before they invite them for the interview?

I would be curious to know how many people get accepted if they have limited "hands-on" experience. I have all of my pre-reqs completed and my gpa is pretty good 3.8 but I have no experience in the clinical setting. I wonder how experience or lack there of is looked at when in consideration for the program. Any input would be greatly appreciated! :)

I can't for this Thursday but it sounds like fun! T-10 days :)

I'm going to go for at least a little bit, I have a commitment in the suburbs later that night but I'll hopefully go from 5-6 or something.

Oh shoot, what is the thing on Thursday? Is it one of the general information sessions or something else?

Also, yesss to hand holding and taking off work. Peace be with you all.

It sounds like essentially an open house for the community work that we were introduced to at the first look - a chance to see what you might want to get involved with/express interest for if you are accepted.

Ooo want that. I had a wedding the day of first look, so I couldn't attend. Would one of you mind passing along the when and where of this event please...?

Dear Spring 2018 GEM Applicants,

As some of you learned at the GEM First Look community service is an integral part of the culture at Rush University and Rush University Medical Center. Through the Rush Community Service Initiatives Program (RCSIP), there is an opportunity for Rush University students, faculty, residents, fellows and staff to use their distinct skills and talents to make a difference in our community and beyond.

As a Rush University student RCSIP offers you a chance to support your community, while also honing your health care skills with hands-on experience. A recent study at Rush found that the opportunities available through RCSIP influenced 66% of our current students to choose Rush as their school of choice. Sharon Gates, Senior Director of Community Engagement would like to invite you to learn more about the RCSIP programs and how to become engaged, if accepted to the GEM program. Please see email below. For questions related to this event please contact Sharon at [email protected]

Warm Regards,

Molly

Soooo anyone else have their nerves SIGNIFICANTLY amp up today? 5 days!

Yes!!! This week is going to be torture.

I just received an email from financial aid... did anyone else?

I also just got a financial aid email

Do you think that means anything?

Yeah, I got one too. It looks promising, but I vaguely remember reading in one of the older threads that it goes out to all applicants.
