Hello!
I am starting this Fall as apart of Cohort 22! Not everyone is invited to interview. At the First Look of interview week, they detailed that 50% of applicants were screened out. The remaining were invited to interview (approx. 150) for 72 spots. So it is competitive! As for hands-on experience, its not required but I have worked as a PCT and it helped me have a better understanding of the nursing profession and solidified my decision to enter nursing. You interview with current faculty; most of whom still practice. Good Luck!
Thank you FutureNurse518! Congratulations on starting in the Fall. Do you know what your schedule will look like for the first semester?
I am volunteering at a local hospital and work with PCT's and RN's so hopefully that will give me some experience, help with the interview and further solidify my decision to do nursing.
Congrats again that is so exciting!
I am also hoping to start in spring 2018. I am still working on my statement, and waiting on 1 transcript and a couple references to arrive. Should be submitting in the next week or two.
Anna010203 - I would look at the Rush website and sign up for the ask a nursing student chat! It's on the computer, and the student I spoke to was very, very helpful and kind. I met her at the info session I went to as well, and she gave me her email in case I had any further questions. Everyone I've spoken to has been really kind and helpful, and I'm very excited to hopefully go into the program.
Has anyone received their interview information? I received an email saying I've been invited to interview and to wait until after the deadline to receive an email to schedule the interview. Has anyone scheduled their interview yet or know when they will start reaching out to schedule those?

Hi, anyone else applied to the Rush GEM program for Spring 2018 yet? I know the deadline isn't until August but I had all of my items completed so I figured why not?
Question - does everyone who meets their minimum requirements get invited for the interview or do they actually screen the applicants before they invite them for the interview?
I would be curious to know how many people get accepted if they have limited "hands-on" experience. I have all of my pre-reqs completed and my gpa is pretty good 3.8 but I have no experience in the clinical setting. I wonder how experience or lack there of is looked at when in consideration for the program. Any input would be greatly appreciated! :)
