RUSH Gem Spring 2017 Cohort

Published

Hi all, I was wondering if there is any other applicants for this cohort, and if you're willing to share stats. Looks like interviews will be held in September.

Post away!

Wow, that's some great work, FionaL! Thanks for pulling all of that together. Are you excited to visit Chicago next week? :)

Good luck with your interview, maybe we'll see each other at the First Look event.

Do you guys have any idea of the dress code for Saturday (Gem First Look)? I am not sure if it is business casual, professional, etc.

I'm going business casual for first look, since it's a Saturday, but I have no idea what's expected.

Hey folks, in case you didn't see it in the email we just got about this Saturday: "The dress code for the GEM First Look is casual."

Just saw that! Now the question is- how casual is "casual"? haha see you all there!

I'm taking them at their word. Jeans and a t-shirt for me! ;)

I'm from out of town, so I'll just go with what I have. I think the GEM is just informative, not intended to stress people out so just relax and wear whatever you have as long as it's appropriate for a professional setting. Excited to see you all on Saturday!

Hey Guys,

I also applied and have a Skype interview tomorrow. Can you guys just tell me how your interview went if you already had them.

Sorry, mine's not until Wednesday morning. Good luck!

@Kem2k16: I have mine last Friday. I don't know if you had a chance to go to the GEM first look, but basically this is what I got from both the interview and the first look. My interviewer asked a lot of personal questions to know more about me as a person. I think they already knew who you are academically based on transcript and stuffs, so they just want to put a face to the application. Mine went well, I got to know a lot about my interviewer. A lot of questions were about what you wrote in the personal statement, but common questions as in the list I posted before was there as well. They have a set of questions but they only asked you 2 or 3, mostly casual conversational style. My interviewer was really nice and approachable, she guided me through the entire interview. I found that I made a good connection with my interviewers and everyone at the First look, the professors seem to care about students which is always a good thing. The current GEM students are really helpful. They offer some insight and later help once you get into the program. I also talked to a lot of people walking around Chicago (I don't know anyone in Chicago, so I just had small talk to random people on the street), they all have good things to say about the school. Anyway, treat it like not only they are interviewing you but you are also interviewing them to see if the school or the program is a good fit for you. In summary, just be yourself and confident, treat the skype interview as you would traditional one. Hope this helps. Good luck on your interview tomorrow.

@ BrendanO, EMT-B: didn't get to meet you in person at the GEM. Hopefully in the future if we both get in. Good luck on your interview.

I went to First Look on Saturday and found it very insightful. What an awesome program and the people that are there to help you succeed.

I had my interview Monday, since I wanted to get it over with. I feel I might have rambled on a little. Just be yourself!

Hello everyone! I had a Skype interview on the 19th. I think it went well. I'm disappointed that I couldn't attend first look. Can anyone share what they heard at first look?
