RPN programs

Published

Had anyone applied to RPN programs in ontario for january 2015 intake? If so, where have you applied?

I am planning to apply to centennial.

I applied to Mohawk for Sep 2014 (waitlisted) and also January 2015. I am really hoping to get in it's kind of my last ditch effort for a career at the moment.

Nursing is, in many ways, as much a passion as it is a profession.

I've never seen anyone who considered nursing to be a "last ditch effort" actually succeed.

If I used the term last ditch effort incorrectly I apologize, however i will never understand how people on the internet get off making such rude and harsh judgments about others when they don't know anything about the person they've decided to comment on.

Thank you for your input

I didn't make any comments towards you personally. I just stated a fact and I don't think I was rude at all :)

@philvane I am sure you will hear something soon. How was the pre-admission testing at Mohawk? I understand the "last ditch effort" comment. It is absolutely insanely ridiculously competitive to get admission at nursing school in Toronto. I have been applying for two years, although, I will continue to apply next year but, it is SO disheartening with all the rejections. I hope you get in, I haven't given RPN a serious thought because I have been applying for RN schools but, I may have to go that route next year.

Thanks @rose89

I actually didn't do my test at Mohawk, I did it all the way out in Orillia at Georgian College since I was scrambling to get everything done ASAP and Georgian offered a test date first, haha. Other than having to drive up there, I'm glad I did it because they were also prompt in sharing the results of the test, I've heard other colleges aren't.

I didn't even bother applying to colleges within Toronto! The requirements are harder compared to schools outside of the city, and I imagine there are even more people vying for spots in the programs. I also liked that Mohawk is 16 months straight, so I won't get rusty over the long summer. Have you considered applying elsewhere in Ontario?

Best of luck

Currently, I haven't applied to RPN programs. I am currently waiting on nipissing and ryerson for RN programs for fall. If I get rejected (I'll hear from them soon) then I will apply for RPN and then go the RN route. I don't think I will be applying outside of ontario, I really don't want to take loans. So, I will be applying to programs nearest to me,, Toronto, GTA.
