RPN moving to California

Published

Hi everyone! Wanted to ask for advice and maybe some info!

My husband is going to transfer to US with L1 visa. Me as his spouse will hold a L2 visa. I am now in nursing school getting my RPN.

I am thinking what would be the best move for me?

1. Am I eligible to work in California with canadian license? I will have SSN

2. Will it be better to get my bachelor's degree in California? Like through a bridging program if there are any? Like LVN to RN?

Maybe other options or suggestions? We are quite flexible with timing, but prefer to move within the next 2-3 years, so I won't be able to get my RN here in Canada (as I initially planned)

Thank you!

You will need a license from California to work in California. Some RPN’s have managed to obtain RN in the US but a lot depends on your transcripts. You would have to search for bridging programs for the US if you are not able to get RN but if planning on returning to Canada it may be beneficial looking at bridging or BSN
