Roseman University Spirng/February 2021 Cohort

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to start this forum to reach out to students who are also applying for the Spring 2021 Cohort at Roseman University. I am from California and I am hoping to get into the Henderson Campus. We can use this forum to bounce questions off of each other and to get information.

This is my first time applying to the program. I have tried to apply to a program where I live in Fresno, California and unfortunately there was too much competition and not enough spaces so I am going to actively go after.

Does anyone know how many people typically apply for the program? I know they accept about 70 people between the two campuses, but I am not really too clear on how they determine who get in. I have a TEAS score of 82 and a GPA of about 3.3. I don’t know if this is competitive enough to get into the program.

If I do get in, I would like to use this forum to communicate with my future classmates. I will be moving so hopefully from this we can get roommate ideas or housing suggestions. Have a great one.

Hi everyone! I am currently a student in the ABSN July 2020 cohort in Henderson, Nevada. I currently am looking to sell the first bundle of textbooks (Blocks 1-5) that are in near perfect condition (never marked or highlighted).

Please email me at [email protected] if anyone is interested!

I just emailed someone about that and they said that orientation will be virtual, but we will need to schedule a time to come to campus one day to pick up our computer and badge. They said we should be receiving more information about this soon.

Hi I finally got accepted to start in June. I just signed the payment and registration form which lists out payment due dates and amounts! My goodness!! I’m applying for financial aid and any other help but how the heck do people cover this amount aside from private loans. If I get financial aid for part can I opt to use ISA to cover rest? Not sure how much ISA limit is and if it’ll be enough???

Federal loans and Private loans. They give you a list of private loan lenders, and you go with the one that has the better interests.  Look more into the ISA before accepting it, It might cost you more money if you end up doing the ISA. I didn't think ISA was a good option for me, the financial aid person can tell you more about the ISA.

Also—I tried to pull ISA but was told you cannot do it if you are planning on pulling out private loans or living costs

Hi I start ABSN in June- looking for a lil insight in regards to the scheduling (I know they’ll give us some details in orientation but looking to get any info I can sooner) I need to look into childcare so was wondering how many days a week I would be occupied with school/being on campus for all that’s needed? Also, the Winter break seems to overlap with a nursing research topic - any idea how that break goes?

Hi,

I have the same question. I sent an email to my advisor but didn't receive an answer so far. I will move with two kids (my husband will stay in California), and I need to know how many days a week we will spend on campus/hospital. I'm especially concerned about clinicals because they will begin so early (6-7 AM), and not all daycares have extended hours.

Hi! We are currently beginning block 5 for ABSN February 2021.

Labs are held in person and will begin in block 2, which is a lab based course. Be prepared to be on campus every day. Our hours were 8-11 mandatory and 11-3 open lab(optional). Block 3 had the labs up front, about a week and half if I remember correctly. Didactics/lectures are held via zoom, they are more review based as ABSN is pretty much self teaching with textbook readings and ATI, plus any additional resources professors provide. The lectures will be recorded and attendance is not mandatory but I highly suggest attending live to ask any questions. Once you begin clinicals in block 3, your schedule will be based off of what the hospitals provide. We were able to get 3 back to back 12 hour shifts (7am-7pm) and 1 virtual day for block 3. Some groups may vary depending on the hospital. Be happy that clinicals are being offered in person again. The cohorts before us had clinicals online!

Good luck mama! I started the program when my little one was 2 months old. I also have a 4, 6, and 17 year old! It can be done!!

Thank you so much for your response. Do you live in Utah or Nevada? I was accepted to South Jordan. Now, I'm looking for a babysitter who will be with kids in the morning and evening when I have my clinicals. If you're in Utah, I will appreciate any advice how to deal with kids during clinicals. Once again, thank you so much for your response! You are a real hero...4 kids and nursing school! WOW!

If anyone is taking the ATI Exit Exam soon, there's a study guide that really helped me passed! I wish someone would've told me sooner, hoping to shed some light onto the new cohorts. I missed by a few points on my first try ? Fortunately, I was able to find this study guide to be extremely helpful!! Definitely worth it & helped me passed with an 85% ! The school passing rate is a 72%, I got a 68% the first time for reference.
