Roseman University Fall 2017

Published

Hey all! I am currently applying to Roseman University for the traditional BSN program. I have my interview on Feb 13th. However, I haven't taken my TEAS yet and would like to know others stats on their TEAS, interview, GPA, etc :)

So I took my TEAS this morning and then I made it just on time to interview today. For the TEAS, I recommend studying the secrets mometrix book. It explained the reading, grammar, and math portions thoroughly. For science (basically A&P section), I had taken A&P courses at unlv already so I had knowledge of the subject already which made it easy, and the A&P questions were easy. I scored an overall 81% on the TEAS and studied for about two weeks only.

As far as the interview goes, there was about 20-25 applicants at the interview which scares me because this is towards the end of their admissions process and they can only secure a number of people (I think 53-56 per cohort). They did not say how many people have been accepted or how many spots there are left. So if you haven't interviewed I would suggest interviewing next month. The interview was really easy they just asked me about leadership skills, why it is important for a nurse to show compassion and care, and how to deal with negative situations. The writing sample was also easy. They admit you by your GPA (35 points), TEAS (35 points), writing sample (12 points), and interview is 15 points. They will let me know in a matter of two weeks by email to see if I am accepted. I am applying with an 81% TEAS score, 3.5 Science/Math GPA and 3.20 overall GPA. Good luck!!

Hey, did you receive your acceptance letter yet? I received mine and so excited to start. I was reading some threads and just found out that the school is actually on a pass/fail grading rather than the GPA. I'm really scared because my main goal is to be an NP.. so I'm not sure how that goes with the grading :/

Yeah, I received mine two weeks ago!

And I was also concerned that the non-traditional grading system of Roseman will prevent me from getting into a graduate school. However I heard there are some students who graduated from Roseman got accepted into DNP and CRNA program. So, I don't think we need to worry about this.

Did you send an admission packet? I'm almost all set but I don't think the health insurance fee is reasonable so I haven't filled out the payment agreement form. Do you plan to purchase the Health Insurance Plan through the school? or Do you have a personal insurance coverage? How could it be way expensive? I've never seen it any more expensive....!

Thanks for responding back. Would I still be able to get an interview if the only class I have to take is A&P II? Also, for the science portion of the TEAS, does it mostly cover A&P I or A&P II? When you did the interview, were you in a room of other applicants like a group interview?

Did you apply for the tradition BSN or the ABSN?

Sorry for the long response, the science portion was mainly all A&P. Only chem was about periodic table and states of matter. And I'm not sure about the A&PII and interview dilemma, you might want to reach out to the advisor Charlene. My interview was fairly easy. They ask you stuff about yourself like leadership skills and how to handle negative situations. Another question is why do nurses need the characteristics of compassion and care. My interviewers was the med-surg professor (he was so cool!) and a current BSN student. You interview by yourself while the others wait in the lecture hall.

I applied for the BSN!

The A&P section was really general. For me, I took A&P I & II twice at UNLV so I really understood the material and remembered the general ideas of each system. The A&P part was not so specific so I think you will be fine as long as you know the general ideas of each system. One question was like which is a long bone and I answered femur lol

Did they tell you when you would hear from them if you got in or not?

Im supposed to find out today (2 weeks from the interview) so hopefully I get in! However, my friend who is trying to interview next month said that the advisor emailed him and said they might not do interviews because the class has met its capacity.... i'm just giving you a heads up but you should contact the advisor Charlene
