Im an aspiring RN in California. Do I still need a BLS certification or intravenous therapy certification if ever I become an RN.

You will need to keep your BLS certificate updated, but will not need an IV certificate. IV certification is for LVNs. IV competence is considered to come with the territory when it comes to RNs. However, you can take an IV certification course for your own reasons; it is just not required.

I don't know about the IV cert, but BLS is required for all the clinical employees at my hospital, including ward clerks and nurses.
Thank you very much. It's because I was educated outside of the USA and back where I come from RNs still need an IV therapy certificate even if they are educated in the subject.

When I took my IV certification course for LVN's there were a couple of RN's in the course as well. They only had to take the 2 practical days. They took it for the practice sticks and the opportunity for 3 live sticks. I was considering on taking the refresher just before my bridge program. If you have the money it wouldn't hurt.
