RN Work In Europe

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am currently a nursing student who will be finished in August 2006. I am very interested in working as an RN in Europe, most likely Austria (specifically Salzburg), but possibly Germany or England. I have a three year committment to work in the States after graduation. I was just wondering the best way to go about getting information to work as a nurse in Europe. A couple of people have told me about the option of working on a US military base as a civilian nurse. Anyone know of any other good, reliable resources for this type of information. I've also heard it could take a long time to get everything settled, so any suggestions on how early to start? Also, would it be better to practice in the States a little longer, or would there be jobs available to me after three years of nursing? Thank you very much for any advice you can offer! It is much appreciated!

depending on country you decide to work will depend on requirements, you will probably have to pass local exam and be able to speak the language again evan pass an exam on the language. I am sure jobs will be available. For requirements in working in the UK would check our requirements here is the link. To work you will need a visa and think the process will take approx 1 yr or more

Working as a civilian on military bases might be an option. However, the hiring priority goes to those military spouses who's spouse is stationed there. Some of the big hospitals in Germany include the Air Force Hospital at Landstuhl (Wiesbaden Air Force Base).
