RN v. LVN v. CNA

Published

this confuses me, please somebody help.

i keep on crossing the questions for delegation. the situation always asks who to delegate what.

my problem is this:

1. what are the other names for CNA, UAP, Nursing Assistant, Health assistant?

2. Is licensed nurse pertaining to Registered nurse or LVN?

3. if the statement only says nurse, am i getting it right that the statement is reffering to the RN?

I know this is a dumb question but as i am reading la charity it made me confused who is the real licensed nurse.

1. CNA, UAP, nursing assistant, PCA-all the same

2. LPN or LVN (NOT RN). LPN & LVN are licensed as well.

3. Yes, if it says nurse, you can safely assume RN

Hope this helps!

thanks connie,

but im still confused coz even state board of nevada states " “Nursing assistant” means a person who, under the direction of a licensed nurse, performs basic restorative services and basic nursing services which are directed at the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, basic mental health and protection of patients and the protection of the rights of patients." then would it mean that RN is the licensed nurse?

i know before that licensed nurse can be LVN or RN but when NCLEX only asks u licensed nurse is where i am getting confused at.

An RN (Registered Nurse) is usually NOT refered to as a licensed personnel. A question will always say an RN,

look on page 3 of la charity. it states who is refered to as a licensed practical nurse and licensed vocational nurse

LPN/LVN can NEVER delate an RN, only an RN can delegate them.

LPN/LVN can delegate CNA, UAP, Nursing Assistant, Health assistant, which pretty much mean the same thing.
