okay so i'm in my first semester of a 2 year college, and im starting off as liberal and eventually am going to nursing. even though i still have some time. i always think of things ahead of time, i have always had in interest in the medical field but never was sure of what area i wanted to do, i've had the idea for the longest of being a RN but i'm a little undecided on it for the simple facts of the high stress factors of being a RN and dealing with patients, blood vomit ect.. i went to my 1st sonogram ever with my sister who is pregnant:yeah:, the sonogram really caught my interest it was so exciting and amazing to see it, although the lady who was doing it was really quiet, dull and non explanatory and i thought to myself that if i was her i would be so happy and detailed in information for the patient. so now im thinking that i want to go into that area.... i heard it is hard to find a job and that they do not make much money? (i live in NY and planning to stay in NY) is this true? should i go for RN or should i go for a program specifically for my second choice?
i would really appreciate the feedback!!
thank you

I'm not from New York, but I happened to see your post. In general, the process for entering and completing a sonography program should be more straightforward. However, nursing usually has a distinct advantage if you're looking at income potential, room for advancement and variety of work settings.
As far as your personal experience with ultrasound, sonographers are sometimes in a tough spot. They're trained to collect the images, but interpreting/explaining the images or making a diagnosis would really fall outside of their scope of practice.
