I'm a RN In Sweden who graduated nursing school a year ago, I've been wanting to work in the states for some time now, in California, but I have nooo Idea of where to even begin..seems like an impossible mission, a whole lot of paperwork and stuff to even maybe be accepted to write the NCLEX? Does anyone know where I can get started? Best regards Hadis, good luck everyone!

Hi everybody! Have a question regarding NCLEX as a international nurse..I live and work in Sweden graduated 1 year ago from nursing school. I was wondering how to get started on this whole NCLEX journey, I wish to work in California and as I understand I need to have a whole bunch of paperwork done for me to even may get accepted to write the NCLEX exam, I need a social security number (which all states doesn not require but California does) and apply for some sort of working visa and etc etc. How did you all start your journey? Any tips?? Would very much appreciate the help I can get Best Regards Hadis

Until you register with a state and meet requirements you will not be allowed to sit NCLEX. Until in the US with a valid work/immigrant visa you can not get a US SSN. For work or immigrant visa you need a employer and most will not entertain you until you have passed NCLEX especially as demand for nurses isn't as high as previous years
Moved to the Nurse Registration forum,
You can not apply to CA without a US SSN which you can't get until in the US with a valid work/immigrant visa. Suggest a read in this forum for ideas on how to start
