Hi Nurse Beth

I am an RN from South Africa been USA since 2023.

I have Illinois active RN license  since passing NCLEX in 2018.
I have never worked in USA as RN yet.

I was in Georgia and tried to endorse license but CGFNS only issued my report recently to Georgia  but already my application with Georgia  has since been canceled. I moved from Georgia now in Texas since last year.I applied for licence endorsement with TBON ,will cgfns send same report they sent to Georgia to Texas?

Im international RN from SA and have not been practicing for 2yrs months  since coming in USA,im in Texas .Do I need to undergo refresher course? if so how do I find one?

Since you haven't worked under your Illinois license or taken the NCLEX within the last 4 years, as the previous writer said, the Texas BON will most likely require CGFNS evaluation.

Your previous evaluation will not be automatically transferred. First, contact the Texas BON and they will guide you. They are not as stringent as some.

If you find you need a refresher course (which is probably a good idea), I'll be glad to research whats available in your area.

Contact the BON via nurse portal for any questions. In general if it has been more than 4 years since you graduated or last practice you need a refresher. I went to phes online many years ago and they were great. There are also one in Austin community college but they didn't offer clinical and it was hard to find on your own. Best wishes.
