I currently work as a rn in Fresno ca and was thinking of relocating to Monterey. Just want a little info about where ppl work and about how much they make to compare with Fresno. Thanks. Oh and I do realize cost of living will be higher.....doesn't get much cheaper in ca than Fresno lol

I'm the wrong person to answer your question because I find money to be very boring. However I lived and worked in Monterey County for 21 years. I worked for the county hospital, Natividad Medical Center, for 21 years. Because it is part of the California Public Employees Retirement System (CAL-PERS) I have a great retirement plan. I've heard that co-workers at the two other near by hospitals are paid more in their hourly wages but have no or very limited retirement plans. Retirement planning doesn't seem important if you're young but waiting until you're 50 or 60 to plan retirement income is about 20 to 30 years too late!

Here's the county job flyer that posts their salary.

About 37/hr base to start. Goes up from there. Considering cost of living, doesn't seem like much....
