I recently signed contract and started the TNPAP program after getting in trouble with marijuana. I am on a 2 year contract, monitoring agreement. I am concerned about when I finish. It states that I am to tell all future employers about my participation in this program. How do employers know if you were in this program in the past? Is there somewhere they look or does TNPAP randomly check on you? I am just wondering. It is so embarrassing to feel like I got to carry this with me the rest of my career. Also the contract I stated states that they can have one observed urine test up to 12 months after my contract ends, does this mean that I can not have an occasional drink even then? Any help or input would be helpful. Thanks...
PS. My license are not suspended or restricted. I completed the very expensive Outpatient in which I could not return to work until completed after paying for evaluation which wasn't cheap. And monitoring isn't cheap, I've had 9 drug tests since may 31 14 totaling 970.00 in which one was a blood test 160.00 in one whop. I just would like to know how I will be looked at for further positions in healthcare from those who are either going through it or been through it. I currently work in a rehab center/nursing home and so want to be in a hospital I don't feel this job is what I went to school for and I want to learn new skills that just aren't offered here but I am scared to reach out anywhere right now while going through this program.....

I'm in a similar boat. I have a lot of the same questions about life after our orders are complete. I know that the states website will remove the history but I've just found out about nursys.com which is a national database. I'm not sure if your order is in there as it's a recovery program order and mine is a disciplinary order. Just go to the site and enter yourself to find out. My case manager tells me that the stuff on that site stays there permanently. If you are in there I'd email your case manager and find out. I'm still in the midst of my order so I've yet to find out if this will stop me from getting jobs after. I'm also in a nursing home type setting and I know exactly how you feel. My case manager also told me that once my order is compete I only have to disclose if they ask me specifically if I have ever been disciplined. But that questions comes up on a lot of apps.... So anyways, sorry I'm not of much help. Hopefully a few people on here who have completed their orders will answer our questions. I've posted one similar a few minutes ago.
Thanks for the input. Every little bit helps. It sucks being in this boat and nice to have people to chat with that understand. Everybody in my current work place knows my situation unfortunately. I couldn't give narcs while the initial stages were going on before my contract got signed so that kind of put me out there. It's not so bad now cause I just tell the facts if they ask lots of them no longer say anything. I was training for supervisor when this happened and now of course I can't hold that position while under contract. But life goes on and we will figure it out. I checked on the nursys.com and I don't have any discipline orders or restrictions on there. Would it show up now if I did. Yeah my order just started a few months ago and they said I have 2 years. I have heard of people getting off early if they are complaint with everything and no problem arises. But individual basis. So when you say if they ask you specifically if you have been disciplined is the only time you have to share this information? I think my contract states I will have to tell all employers current and future. Ahhh. guess ill find out soon enough. I think I just want to stay were I am at until I get through this since my employer has to fill out an evaluation every 2 months. I don't know it was hard going through this and I just don't want to do it over at this moment.

Every state is different. The best advice I can give is the following.... 1 . stay clean finish the program. 2. Stay in your state until you finish the program. 3. Don't worry about tomorrow it may not even come , finish the program. 4. Attend your meetings, work with your sponsor, work the steps, finish the program. 5 When you finish the program life will have a new meaning to it and you will find the energy you spent with worry did not change 1 thing. It is what it is.
