I don't think I received my letter (2 years ago) until after April 15... Good luck. Let me know what happens!

Sorry, it's just me again checking to see if anyone has heard anything - whether they received a letter or heard anything about when letters will be coming!! I can't stand the wait!!!! Thanks so much!

Hi--I am thinking of applying to JCC for th RN program. Does anyone know if they will transfer my English 111, &112 at a community college in Virginia, and that was 15 years ago.

Just read someone posted that they don't transfer anything you took more than 5 years ago, but I always thought that was for Biology alone

What criteria (point system, GPA) do they use for RN program entrance.

Any advice will be appreciated. thannk you

Hello. I just graduated from JCC. I hope I can help a bit. If Leixlip is lurking, she can also let you know about JCC. Hello, Leixlip??

Anyway, JCC uses a points system. In the past (I'm not sure how it has been done since I entered two years ago) most of the points were given for your score on a standardized test. They began administering a new test for the class of 2007 called the HOBET. You also get points for the prerequisets you have already taken (more points for better grades).

You should have no problem w/ your English classes. Mine were from 1989. Have a look at the requirements here:

Good luck!

thank u Kellyo for the info. I am glad to know they transferred your classes from 1989. Were they also enlgish classes or others?

Also, does anyone know if there is a waitng list at JCC?

No waiting list, either. Just the points system. If someone does not make it, they can sill get in based on their ranking if someone does not take a position...

I am happy for you that you got in. How many points did you total for the pre-reqistes and what was your score on HOBET. I'm applying in Jan. 2007 for admisssion to Nursing at JCC. I have most of my pre-reqistes out of the way except for 2 classes (humanits elective and Anatomy&physiologyII), I totalled 25 points for the pre-requestes, have not taken Hobet yet so can't add that in yet? I hope I get in, is it very competives? thx

Hi! It is pretty competitive, but it sounds like you have a very good start with 25 points. I scored a 98% on the math portion and a 76% on the reading section. This put me in the 98% nationally. I definitely recommend buying the study guide, the reading test is unlike any other I had taken. I have a 4.0 with all my pre-req's finished except I hadn't taken A&P I&II yet. I believe I had 58.4 points total, but I am not sure. They do not tell you where you ranked overall, just whether or not you made it. I think the class points for the year before were 54 to 68. When you take the HOBET they will let you know what the cutoff was for the year before. The hardest part of the admissions process is the wait. You need to apply and have all of your paperwork finished before March 1st, but you do not find out until mid-May if you are in or not. It is grueling!! Anyway, good luck to you. I'll be looking for your acceptance post next May!!

Don't pay any attention to the points ,the faculty DO NOT disclose their criteria. What they do is consider all applicants above a certain level and work from the top down so really you are not beating the points but hoping that you do better than the other applicants. It all depends on the quality of that year's applicants.

I went through having to take both A&P's and let me tell you that was no fun! The second semester (traditionally the worst) nearly killed me, so see what you can do about getting them done elsewhere. JCC only does A&PI in the fall and II in the spring.

Good luck

thanks for the input leixlip,

Did you take A&P before you were admitting to the nursing or after. How did you do? I know it's hard course. Have you graduated or about to?

How hard are the nursing courses themselves? How much A&P do you use in the nursing courses, I know you need to know the major organs and how how body works, but do you really use all that little stuff they teach you in A&P.

When do you do rotations with the hospitals, with all nursing courses or just IV, V?

I took A&P with nursing classes. I did well in school, graduated in May and just passed the NCLEX. PM and I'll answer any questions.
