RN pay in Texas

Published

Hi everyone:

I'm a RN from New Mexico. I'm planning to move to Harlingen, Tx. Can anybody recommend a good place to work? They said that Texas is the best paid state in America today. Can anyone tell me how much are the hospitals paying?

If there's any suggestion about a good employer, I will appreciated it.

Thanks a lot

There are a LOT of sue happy people in Texas. Watch the daytime TV and all you see are atty commercials. It can be scary to say the least!

Specializes in ICU/CCU/Oncology/CSU/Managed Care/ Case Management.

I am a Florida RN and also have NSO, yes you pay only $120/yr for a 100mil per aggregate.

I just recently recieved my Texas license and NSO told me that the malpractice suits in Texas is VERY high and the MDs requested or petioned that the nurses get less coverage in Texas. The NSO rep laughed on the phone and said you may want to think twice before heading out there.

The coverage is only $150,000 and $230 or $220 per year. So my coverage is cut in half and my premium is doubled.....So I guess everything is big in Texas including malpractice suits....:uhoh3:
