RN to paramedic?

Published

Just seeing if anyone had any advice about how to do this and if I could bi-pass the traditional rout? I would not be changing careers. I want to volunteer for our local fire/ems. I am going to talk with the department on Monday and I searched a few old threads here but I am still a bit confused. Any advice or resources to check out would be appreciated.

And before anyone makes fun of me for not knowing any of that stuff I will just tell you, I have worked L&D, psych, and just recently ltc.....not much interaction with emergency service people in my career up to this point :)

I also realize now that my question about RN to paramedic with noting in between was a little bit silly. So, like I said I'm glad I asked here first (where I am anonymous) instead of making a fool of myself tomorrow :)

Hey, no worries ... most non-EMS providers don't know an EMT-B(asic) from an EMT-I(ntermediate) from an EMT-P(aramedic). :) There is good info here: http://www.nremt.org
