RN with one year experience trying to look for new job!

Published

HI there I'm new to this site, I wanted to see if others out there are kind of in a similar situation like me. So here it is in a nut shell. I have been a RN for a little over a year. I just had my 3rd and last child not too long ago. I have been trying to get out of Rehab/sub-acute nursing. I have been applying to LTACH and hospitals just because i want the 12 shifts back ( i use to work in a hospital) and no luck. Right now I've been working with nurse registries but lately they have been running bone dry with work and its hard to make a living with just being on call. Any advice? I'd love to hear from you.

I am in a similar situation. I've been a RN for one year and have worked in Home Health. I am trying very hard to move in to an acute care full time roll, but I'm finding it very difficult. I keep applying, but nothing is turning up. I've reached out to a lot of my colleagues as to what has helped them. I will post anything I hear or find out in the hopes that he may help you as well. Good luck! And don't give up!

Thanks for getting back, I know some many RNs with some form of experience are going through what we are going through. I actually got offered a Travel Nurse position here in my state. Its a 13 week contract, so I just have to adjust and learn fast. The only thing I could advise to those who are just like in our situation is to apply out of their state and go to places like Alaska, Mississippi, Louisiana, Wyoming, Iowa. I know its hard because I have children and what not. But I'm learning sometimes sacrifice is the only way to get ahead in this cut throat nursing field. Good luck and I hope to hear from you again.
