  1. Do you have a job lined up already? I wouldn't worry about the pay I would worry about landing a job here in the state of california as a new grad.
  2. I know this post is so old. I'm in the process of endorsement from California to texas since I got a job offer there. I think they said it takes 6-8 weeks. The person you may want to contact is [email protected]. email her and see where your application is during the process. Hope this helps.
  3. Hi there I just got a job offer there to work nights med/surg unit. Im moving from California, just waiting for endorsement to finalize. There us no real review b/c they just openned.they have a great hospital review with other hospitals they have open. Hope this helps.
  4. I'm going on my first travel assignment in a little over a week. Kind of nervous and don't know what to expect, I have a little over a year experience with med/surg and sub-acute rehab. What are the hours and scheduling like. I'm going to a hospital in central valley ca for about 4 or 8 weeks.
  5. If you really really want a nursing job, either take SNFs or Home health or move ( I swear I keep posting this because its true) to a state that no one wants to move to, (i.e) Alaska, Wyoming, Iowa, Kansas, Idaho. For those who are from there no offense meant here. I'm from Cali I'm just stating where the nursing jobs are available.
  6. Well I have to comment on this thread when I read it. I have a little over a year experience with med/surg, rehab and sub-acute experience. Staffing agencies and travel agency took me in, after i hit my one year bench mark. But as far as staffing agency they have a tendency to cancel a lot when census is low. I still feel like I could learn so much more so I'm currently tyring out this travel agency. As far as your situation, either try SNFs or definitely try apply out of state to places where no one wants to be like, Idaho, Iowa, Wyoming, Alaska. I got my experience from home health, and a small community hospital which also had a sub-acute rehab and psych unit, which they only gave me 2 weeks of new grad training and pretty much let me swim with sharks then on after. Best of luck to you and I really hope this helps.
  7. I just read this post. I just got my first travel assignment and I was told that I would only get 4 hours of orientation and that was it. Kind of nervous but I will see, I have a little over a year experience. I'm debating if this was a good idea to do travel nursing considering the fact I have 3 children too.
  8. Thanks for getting back, I know some many RNs with some form of experience are going through what we are going through. I actually got offered a Travel Nurse position here in my state. Its a 13 week contract, so I just have to adjust and learn fast. The only thing I could advise to those who are just like in our situation is to apply out of their state and go to places like Alaska, Mississippi, Louisiana, Wyoming, Iowa. I know its hard because I have children and what not. But I'm learning sometimes sacrifice is the only way to get ahead in this cut throat nursing field. Good luck and I hope to hear from you again.
  9. I see that this post was almost a year ago. I was wondering the same thing, I have subacute and snf experience with a little over a year. I live in So. Cal and even trying to find jobs in LTACH are sooo darn hard to land. I have applied to some registries that have contracts with hospitals in the So cal region. I don't know what its going to take to finally get that acute care experience it seems like everyone wants. It seems to me that registry is my only ticket to gain that type of experience. Any thoughts or comments would be much appreciated.
  10. HI there I'm new to this site, I wanted to see if others out there are kind of in a similar situation like me. So here it is in a nut shell. I have been a RN for a little over a year. I just had my 3rd and last child not too long ago. I have been trying to get out of Rehab/sub-acute nursing. I have been applying to LTACH and hospitals just because i want the 12 shifts back ( i use to work in a hospital) and no luck. Right now I've been working with nurse registries but lately they have been running bone dry with work and its hard to make a living with just being on call. Any advice? I'd love to hear from you.
  11. HI i'm new to this site. But I have been reading post and i came across yours. I am in the similar situation, although i have 3 children and the youngest is only 3 months. I have been an RN in So. cal for a little over a year and i quit my SNF job after maternity leave was up. To go back to your question, it does not hurt to apply else where. I applied to places where no one wants to be and I have been getting call backs from So. Carolina, and other parts of the Mid west. They don't pay as much as Cali or NY but its experience. I would do it if my infant was not so young. But best of luck to you.
