Rn-msn

did anyone who went the rn to msn route wish they'd gotten their bsn first? (i already have a bachelors..)

I graduated from a diploma school in 1980, didn't go back until 1998 at the tender age of 40. I am in a "bridge" program designed for diploma and ADN nurses. Looking back, I would say that my diploma education definitely prepared me well to work as a bedside clinician. If I had to do it over, I would have gone back for my MSN earlier, but I don't regret not getting the BSN first. Getting my BSN, then going on for the MSN would have taken the same amount of time at the University that I am attending. Since I'm in the "bridge" program, I didn't have to take classes that required clinicals for my BSN, which I will receive in Dec 2004 at the same time as my MSN. They had us take classes (theory, leadership, etc) designed especially for experienced RN's instead.

Specializes in NICU.

I am in the same situation as you are soulshine. I have a BA in psychology and an ADN. What I have found in the programs in my area I can get my bachelors in nursing quite quickly on my way to a masters so why not. You probably have most of the liberal art classes out of the way which is a big portion of the workload.
