Please help. I have debated over this battle for the last year. I am 21 years old and graduated from ADN school in May. I now work in a Level 1 Trauma center which I *LOVE*. I think every day is interesting and I never dread going to work. I am considering the ANP program. I honestly want to get paid more at work and possibly have more responsibilty. I do, however, like the job as the RN as far as patient care goes. I would be aiming for the ANP in the Trauma Center.... I don't know what to do? I really need some imput... It's a deff. consideration of a decision I need to make in the near future. I just am torn about what to do. I think I may like the NP job but will I miss the RN part of it? Or does RN still play a huge role in the ARNP position? Thanks guys for anything you can give me :-) advice wise...

First congrats on your graduation. I too loved the ER. I became a clinical nurse specialist through my associated hospital school of nursing. However, the hospitals don't hire mid-level providers in my area. So...some ideas:
1. Make sure your area hires mid-level providers and with what certifications.
2. What is the predicted job market?
3. Are you willing to relocate?
4. What kind of education programs are available in your area? Is there an ADN to MSN program?
Good luck.
