RN job offer during the hiring freeze era??

Just curious as to how many new grad currently had a job offer or just started working as an RN in the boston area. And if you don't mind can you also tell me which hospital.. just to give people like me some hope:bow:

Hi,

I graduated 5/07 with a BSN in nursing and have been looking for a hospital job ever since (i do outpatient right now). I applied to every hospital in the state except Springfield over the past 2 years, and only got invited for 2 interviews--both of which were given to internal candidates.

My luck seemed to change a few weeks ago, when I got called by Mass General in Boston to interview for a position. The interview I thought went really well... they called me yesterday to come back next week to meet the staff, and shadow a nurse for 4 hrs. I am really excited and think that finally after my long wait, I might get an offer!! YAY!!

My recommendation is to get a job somewhere if you can (even if it is not a hospital). i always had this fear that if i took an outpatient job, I would NEVER get into a hospital....i'm starting to think that it doesn't matter. what employers seem to be looking for is "confidence."

I know MGH posted a few new grad positions on their website a few days ago..try applying for those, you never know....you might get a call like i did :) GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

I was just offered a position at Anna Jaques (med/surg)...I have been working as an RN for the past 6 months in geri/psych at another hospital but I'm still considered a "new grad."

Weren't those all for the ICU program? They require you to have done ICU preceptorship or ICU CNA.

Specializes in Pediatrics, ER.

I have a BSN and graduated in May '08. I just got a job working in New Hampshire. I commute there and it's a wonderful hospital.
