RN Job Market in Houston

Specializes in Family Nurse Practitioner.

Hello everyone! I am a nurse practitioner in the Houston area. I am seeking a Per Diem RN position to make extra money outside my full-time NP position. I noticed that obtaining a PRN Registered Nurse position in Houston is very difficult. I am with one agency, but they canceled all my shifts the day before. I have five years of Med-Surg RN experience,  but most hospitals are not responding to my application when I apply. I have my NP credentials and DNP degree listed on my resume. I did an experiment recently, removed my NP credentials and DNP degree from my resume, and received a call back from a hospital 1-2 days after submitting an application. I received an interview with a quick response from this company, but they were only looking for full-time RNs. Is it common for nurse practitioners to be black-balled from RN jobs? Also, do you all have any suggestions for landing a PRN Registered Nurse job in a competitive healthcare market?
