RN from Hong Kong to UK

Hello,

I am RN from Hong Kong, and planing to work in London. Could anyone tell me the approximate pay rate to work as a general RN in London?

I have five year experiences after graduated from University.

I just got the information pack from the nursing council in UK(havent pay the application fee and lodge the application form), is the process easy? How about the 'Overseas Nursing Programme'? Anyone can give me more information and experiences on this?

Problems will be with immigration as at the moment nurses are no longer schedule A and therefore if outside the EU very hard to get a work permit. The ONP is a hard course to get on purely do to not enough places due to high demand. Process will be very long if you are lucky to get a work permit but until you have completed the NMC process there is way you can even think about work permit. You should be able to find a payscale on the RCN website but you do get paid a little bit more for working and living in London but will still be very expensive

That's mean is really not a easy process. I'm thinking to lodge the application or not. Should I have to travel to UK for the ONP (20days)? What's it about?

How long should the work permit take? Are there any agents can help me to get the registration and the job (including application and work permit)? I know some australia agents do that if you want to go to aust.

I think it's difficult to find job as well, right?

Right now in the UK, there are British nurses that are having problems finding jobs. And the next that the job would go to is a nurse from the European Union. So coming from Asia, it is going to be nearly impossible, if not impossible.

Think of the UK as having a freeze on hiring of any foreign nurses. It is extremely hard to work there even as an American RN.

Australia has plenty of openings, that is why you are finding agents to take care of things there; in the UK that is not the case right now.

ONP has to be done in the UK. yes the process is going to be very hard and nealy impossible at the moment for you to get a work permit
