RN exit hesi

Published

Hi new to this site and in need if studying tips. I'm currently finishing up school for my RN. I have failed the exit hesi twice and with retest in a few weeks. My scores were 840 & 846. First time around needed a 850 now I have to obtain a 900. I'm unsure if I'm using the right resources, I have the hesi book and online resources. Does Kaplan questions help prepare or maybe this your best grade site. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

I passed my exit hesi with an 1113. I did not have a whole lot of success following my foundations hesi. Our program required us to take an end of course hesi. I struggled in all of the HESI exams because of my inability to grasp the testing strategies! Anyway.... When the exit HESI time came around I was freaking out because of my past experiences.....So here is exactly how I studied. I used evolve resources which included HESI case studies and the HESI practice test and quizzes. I also got a subscription to "your best grade" which helped!! Oh, I also used the HESI NCLEX RN study book. I did a mixture of all of these things in prep for HESI. I really didn't have a high confidence level the day of. I just took my time with each question, thought it through using the testing strategies I had learned, read and re-read the question to make sure I understood what the question was asking.

DONT change your answer unless you are 100% sure the one you have chosen is incorrect. I was bad at doing this, so I stopped on my exit exam.

I would suggest studying ONLY HESI based study materials as HESI and NCLEX are different exams, in my opinion. I studied NCLEX materials for the NCLEX exam.

Thank you so much for your advice. I think I definitely need to slow down when reading the questions. Thank you again

These are good tips and are what a lot of people that I went to school with used and were successful.

I got a 1203 the first time and a 1286 the second. All I used was the online study mode for the HESI book that comes with the access code in the book. There a a TON of questions written by the writer of the test so the style will get you used to those types of questions. If done in study mode, rationale comes with each question, explaining why each answer is right or wrong.

A big thing that I noticed with the exit exam is that you need to understand exactly what the question is asking. It may start off talking about a specific disease or disorder, but that isn't what the question is really about. Take the time to read the question and know what it is looking for. This is crucial. Doing the practice questions will show many example of this.

Good luck with your test

Wow your scores were amazing ! 1113 , 1203/1286 I can only hope to achieve those . So you all would agree that using the Evolve resources are best ? Even for HeSi speciality tests ? I need to boost my score on those as well ! @chavoone I hope you did better on your other attempt . :)
