Hello, I am interested in going to an online BSN program but eventually going on to get my ACNP. I was wondering if NP schools look down apon or think negatively towards online BSN programs or should I just continue on to a CAL State school (i live in california). Thank you for your time in reading this. I really want to do an online school due to traveling and life experiences

thank you,

no body cares how you received your degree these days. many choices are available for anyone motivated enough to study. to answer your question it does not matter to employers or graduate programs if the program you completed is online or within a traditional class room setting. in fact, many traditional programs offer course online as well. it is a misconception to think that the bsn program and csu does not allow for traditional bsn students to take online courses during their education. also, not all rn-bsn programs are completely online. my program requires me to participate in community projects and i am required to spend clinical days to complete some of my courses. in fact, the only difference between a rn-bsn program and a traditional bsn program is the fact that rns attend the rn-bsn program and traditional bsn programs are attended by students studying to become rns; that is all.

online rn-bsn program graduates earn diplomas that read bachelors of science in nursing from the university of blah blah blah just like traditional bsn program graduates. plus our transcripts do not include a note as to which class was online or within a classroom setting. thus, imo you need to pick the school that supports your family’s financial circumstances and your current life-style and expectations so you will complete the program. people start and drop out of school all the time. gl!

Just make sure your BSN is from a reputable, accredited school regardless of whether you do it in person or online. Many nursing faculty I've encountered have completed at least one of their degrees online. It's a great mode of education for working professionals who're already established in a field.

thank u so much; online BSN it is!!!!!1
