RN to BSN Excelsior

Published

Hello All,

Anyone doing RN to BSN???? How is it?? Is there an exam with every class? Can someone tell me what the online is like, especially if you have to work, are you watching a webinar of the class??? Or is it an online board discussion?

Also, I need Stats for my math, which one is good??

Thanks a million in advance!!

I haven't started the nursing classes yet, but the statistics class you want, if you are taking it from Excelsior, is Mat*215, Statistics for Health Care Professions. Hope that helps :)

Edit: Many, but not all, of the nursing classes have syllabi. If you read the syllabus for the class, you can see what the assignments will be and how much writing they require. (Hint: a lot ;p)

Thank you Cobweb!! How has Stats been so far?? I dread it!! I figured there was/is going to be lots of writing.

I finished MAT 215 a couple of weeks ago. I managed an A which I found surprising. It was very difficult and time consuming. I also didn't care for the professor, but it's over now. I cannot recommend Statistics through Excelsior, I would definitely recommend an in-person class. It is very difficult to communicate very e-mail about math problems.

Cobweb, is it possible to get a course syllabus if one it not yet enrolled in a class. I would like to have a better way of coordinating my classes. Right now the two I am in are okay together, but I could imagine some of the heavier courses need to be taken alone. It would be good to know.

I have a thread relaying more details about my statistics experience.

Yes, I looked at the syllabi for several classes that I haven't signed up for yet. I don't actually start statistics until Monday, so I'll let you know! :) Be sure to communicate with your advisor if you want to coordinate your classes better; I found mine extremely helpful. Some classes are accelerated and some are not--it's not always clear which are which, expecially since they are still in the midst of changing their semester system, so do be careful about getting overloaded.

I'm in the BSN program too! =) Just finished Ethics for healthcare providers- 8wk online course, got an A, also in the 15wk course for Stats (blah i hate it, but it IS doable)- have a B so far, and Expository Writing ENG 201 which i have an A in. I work full time, have three kids under the age of 7 and my husband is active duty army. I just make sure each night i sit down for at least an hour to two and work on school discussion and assignments. Taking a couple more gen eds i need next term, then will start the nursing ones. Only plan on doing two nursing ones at a time though.

Expository writing through Excelsior is a great course. Statistics for Healthcare providers, different story completely, poorly coordinated, I personally didn't have a good instructor, could have done it on my own without his help. Khan academy better than any help from my instructor. This is from someone that pulled an "A" in the end folks. Just saying. . .

Get Statistics any other way than through Excelsior. And I'm a big fan of Excelsior.

I'm going to try studying for the UExcel Statistics CLEP test recommended by Excelsior.

What about ALEKS?? Anyone do that Stats class?
