RN2Be Searching for a job in CA

Published

Good evening everyone!!! I am a student nurse graduating in 05/2008 yay!!!! I am also seriously wanting a job in the LA area and I don't really know how to go about it. I am hoping for any suggestions you all might have on how to find New Grad Nurse programs or positions, and recommendable hospitals offering them. Thank you very much.

I just finished my core RN classes on 3/21, got my IP on 3/26 (take NCLEX 4/23) and was hired even before my IP posted. I officially start on the 8th of this month. I started looking in late December and worked really hard in January filling out online apps, calling hiring managers and recruiters.

My advice is to start looking ASAP and just be confident that you will get a job! It is not easy and I had to apply to many new grad programs before getting a call back. Get a resume together, along with a cover letter and have another nurse or instructor give you feedback on it. Submit it everywhere you think you want a job. It takes a month or so to hear back so start soon. New grad programs will fill up at around the time you graduate, the sooner you start the less you have to compete with everyone coming out and more likely you are to get a spot. Good luck!!!

California is a big state. You will find it helpful to narrow the search by location. Where is California would you like to live?
