Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency - Home for assessment and apply to be RN as for sponsorship once an RN you can apply to a hospital for a sponsorship of a long term business visa.

Depending on your age you can apply for working holiday visa for 2 years. If a US born.

I would act now, Australia seems to be the only country that is still offering overseas nurses work. It seems NSW is the only state that hospitals are still employing overseas nurses the other states, nursing homes still like to employ overseas nurses with the business visa as they pay the least.

It would seem AHPRA are registering nurses with the ADN that have experience.

I am fairly certain it is possible. I have turned in my packet and the last sheet of paper (one that clarified an issue---they are very nitpicky) arrived yesterday at AHPRA. Just waiting on a response. I have an AD and I have spoken with AHPRA (I got a calling card) and they didnt seem to have a problem with my AD. Experience is a must--I have 4 years of it in Med Surg. I chose Oz because the UK wont accept ADNs and I refuse to go back to school right now. I havent applied for a VISA because if it turns out I have wasted 500 bux through the application I dont want to make it 800 bucks in total.

ADN is more education than a bachelor degree here in Australia so yes you will get licensed as a RN

Hello Im currently looking into doing travel nursing in Australia. Im just confused with their educational requirements with applying through AHPRA to gain registration. I did email them an enquiry about whether I would qualify and they just forwarded me a link to register and apply. They gave me no answers to my questions. I also only have an associates degree, but 4 years experience in critical care at a hospital in southern california. Just was curious to know if you have heard back from them in regards to you submitting an application with them. i would greatly appreciate an advise or feedback on how your process is going. thanks :o)

You should have no problem getting licensed.all RN's in Australia hold bachelor degrees but you will get licensed without any problem.Australia lets ADN get licensed in australia.I am a dual citizen so not sure about immigration side of things

thank you for responding back! i really do hope i dont have any problems with registering. would i have to take their licensing exam as well or does registering with ahpra cover all that? also do recruiting/travel agency tend to cover living expenses over there just like the ones do in usa. just curious to know how all that works over there. thanks again!

Might want to check with medi serve a good travel agency. No NCLEX or tests required here for licensure.some people have had to sit islets???english test even though you are from USA they might make you take it but at least you can prove all your schooling is in English.

thanks for the positive feedback kellieskorner and for letting me know about medi serve. i really appreciate it! :)

Thanks for the info Kellie. I'm from Virginia and I am considering travels to Australia to work.

This is a great place to live and work.Easy to get licensed.Scope of practice is less, work alot less than in US, 6 weeks holidays, paid alot more.healthcare is in turmoil atm with funding so i'd get in asap Qld health is still hiring foriegn nurses even though others are being made redundant.personally if i was moving from the USA i'd live in queensland.
